Attendance of the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis at Radio Days Europe 2025

RADIODAYS EUROPE 2025 was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis. During his presence at the conference, the Deputy Minister toured the exhibition, visited the ERT Echo stand and delivered a welcome address at the opening of the proceedings. He said: "Yesterday, today and tomorrow are not just days. They are the days of voices, of stories, of truth. The Days of Radio. Days in which we celebrate the power of sound, the magic of words and the power of communication... I must say that I look forward with great interest to the results of the discussions on Protecting Radio Access in Automotive Systems and Sustainability in Broadcasting. Radiodays Europe tackles audio industry’s future

Radiodays Europe 2025 was held in Athens from March 9–11. According to the organizers, the event brought together more than 1,500 radio and audio professionals from nearly 50 countries to discuss the major changes and challenges facing the industry. At the opening, Greece’s Deputy Minister Pavlos Marinakis emphasized radio’s enduring importance as a trusted, timely, and democratic medium. He noted that radio continues to reach citizens of all ages and has supported public dialogue and informed societies since the early days of broadcasting. Securing radio’s prominence in car dashboards was also discussed extensively. Sessions explored strategies to protect and enhance radio’s presence in vehicles, emphasizing industry-wide collaboration to keep radio easily accessible in connected cars through DAB+ and smart integration.

TRITON Digital orders DAB systems from Paneda

The system integrator Triton Digital has ordered a complete DAB platform from Paneda. The system has been installed in the Czech Republic for the national broadcaster Broadcast Services (part of the same group as Multiplex24), which is building a DAB network with a total of 31 transmitters. Once completed, the network will cover up to 95% of the population in the target regions. Additionally, a DAB system has been provided for the regional broadcaster GG Omikron, which is developing a DAB network aimed at covering the three largest cities in the Czech Republic. The order includes a software platform based on Docker, hosted on on-premises hardware.

RFI extends its presence in Paris and the Ile-de-France region with its arrival on DAB+

RFI is boosting its accessibility in Paris and the Ile-de-France region by being broadcast on DAB+ in addition to its historic frequency 89FM. The international public radio station is now accessible to listeners with DAB+ compatible reception equipment in and around the French capital. Arcom had authorised the France Médias Monde group to broadcast RFI programmes on DAB+ via the Paris intermediary multiplex 6A, operated by TDF via its transmitters in Romainville and Meudon. Digital terrestrial radio gives RFI a greater presence in Paris and the Île-de-France region, as well as an enhanced listening experience for listeners.

Bierhorst at Radiodays Europe 2025: "Broadcast is for broadcasters"

WorldDAB President, Jacqueline Bierhorst spoke at Radiodays Europe 2025 in Athens on 11 March, in a session entitled “Save our Airwaves - DAB+ outlook and experiences.”
"I want to talk to you not only about the global growth of DAB+, and how it can re-energise radio; but also why I believe BROADCAST is crucial for BROADCASTERS, Bierhorst said. "That may seem a strange thing to say, or that it’s obvious. But as we near the end of this event, let me explain why I think it’s important that you keep this with you - and that you think about it hard when you’re back in your studios or offices."

Estonian DAB+ frequency licence competition won by Levira

AS Levira submitted an application to the public call for digital radio frequency licences announced by the Consumer Protection and Technical Authority (CTA) in January. After obtaining the frequency licence, Levira will have to build three broadcasting networks within one year. From now on, radio programmes will be available over the air not only on FM frequencies but also in digital radio format, which will enrich the Estonian media landscape. With the first network, Levira will have to cover a minimum of 85.59% of the population (the photo shows what the coverage should look like). The second network must cover 73.45% of the population and the third 72.16%. AS Levira has estimated that the commercial digital radio service will be broadcast from September 2025.

The Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority of Estonia (TTJA) announced that AS Levira has been selected as the winner of the public tender for digital radio frequency licences (DAB+), which was launched in January 2025. After receiving the frequency licence, Levira must build three DAB+ broadcasting networks within a year. In the future, radio programs will be available over the air in digital radio format, in addition to FM frequencies, further enriching Estonian media landscape.
