Czech Radio is a public service radio organisation operating in the Czech Republic. It has been an Active Member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1993, and as such has been significantly contributing to and participating on the news exchanges, sport broadcasting, music exchanges, and co-operation in the area of production and transmission of radio broadcasting. Among Czech Radio's stations there are four nationwide, four special, 14 regional and one international station, broadcasting bands are FM, SW, DV, LW, Internet, DVB-T and DVB-S. The Czech Radio Council is an authority through which the right of the general public to review the activities of Czech Radio is exercised. Around 90% of Czech Radio's total funding comes from radio license fees. The remainder comes from commercial activities. Through the charity collection entitled the “Lightning Fly” Czech Radio contributes to the improvement of life conditions and independence of people with visual impairment.
