The Radio and Television Supreme Council of the Republic of Türkiye (RTÜK) is the independent regulatory and supervisory authority responsible for radio, television and on-demand media services in Türkiye.

Established under Law No. 6112 on the Establishment of Radio and Television Enterprises and Their Media Services, RTÜK’s main responsibilities include licensing and authorising media service providers, monitoring broadcasts, ensuring compliance with broadcasting principles, and contributing to the development of a pluralistic, competitive and technologically advanced media environment.

RTÜK also has important responsibilities in relation to terrestrial radio broadcasting, including frequency planning, licensing and regulatory processes. In this context, RTÜK follows technological developments in digital radio broadcasting and carries out work concerning the transition to DAB/DAB+ broadcasting in Türkiye, in coordination with relevant national stakeholders and in line with international developments and best practices.

As Türkiye’s media regulatory and supervisory authority, RTÜK aims to support the development of broadcasting services in line with public interest, technological innovation, media pluralism and international standards.
