More and more manufacturers now offer line-fitted DAB+ radio in the car. This could be seen at the Geneva International Motor Show where experts from EBU were there to get the latest news on digital radio in-car.

From Monday, listeners will be able to receive KXradio, which will replace Radio Summit 2000.

During the DAB+ workshop held by Principal Sponsors WorldDAB, it was emphasised that all stakeholders have to work together to make digital radio happen, and that setting a date for the migration from analog “makes a statement of intent and helps everything fall into place more quickly.”

Small-scale DAB operator Solent Wireless is offering another station the chance to join its multiplex serving Portsmouth. There are currently four DAB+ stations broadcasting to Portsmouth, including Radio Caroline and Indulgence.

The Highway 400 and 600 sit on the dashboard and connect to the stereo system either through auxiliary input or through the FM transmitte giving you access to both digital radio and music streaming services.

Using a clear display, with button and voice controls, the Highway can be used to access DAB radio and Spotify without digging out your phone.

Malaysian Deputy Communications Minister Jailani Johari was presented with a digital radio by WorldDAB Vice-President Joan Warner during the opening of the annual broadcasting event.

During ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2016, Principal Systems Architect, BBC and WorldDAB Technical Committee Chairman, Lindsay Cornell, told the audience that the Technical Committee is revising all standards to make sure that the costs of production are as low as possible, while delivering the best rich services digital radio can provide.

Around 60 stations are part of the tests, which could possibly have faced being switched off if the nine-month trial was allowed to end.
