The first speakers have been announced for Radiodays Europe 2018. The event, which will be held in Vienna, will have more than 120 speakers in 50+ sessions over 2 and a half days, 18-20 March 2018.

WorldDAB's latest market report shows that by the end of June of this year 58,432,000 DAB/DAB+ receivers had been sold in Europe and Asia Pacific — up from 48 million a year earlier, a nearly 22% increase.

The number of consumer and automotive DAB/DAB+ receivers across Europe and Asia Pacific is nearing a benchmark per a new market report from WorldDAB. According to the report, at the end of Q2 2017, almost 60 million DAB receivers (58,432,000) had been sold, up from 48 million in the previous year.

The call for interest in DAB+ that was launched by the Medienanstalt Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MMV) in mid-September has now closed, with interest from six radio broadcasters and one platform operator.

The report also positively assesses the role of Czech Radio as a leader of the whole process and highlights the pioneering role of Digital Radio.

On 17 October, all of the Belgian public broadcaster VRT’s radio channels began broadcasting via DAB+. VRT is now simulcasting its stations Radio 1, Radio 2, Klara, Studio Brussel and MNM on FM and DAB+, while it is also making available its online radio selections, which include MNM Hits, Klara Continuo and VRT NWS, on DAB+.

WorldDAB has chosen Paris as the location of its next General Assembly. For two days, Nov. 7–8, the topic will be DAB radio. The General Assembly will bring together over 200 digital radio experts to discuss the future of radio, DAB+ deployments around the world, and a European vision of digital radio.
