Magic Christmas to appear on DAB

Onkyo TX-8220 and TX-8250

"Digital by default" call for radio manufacturers

In the UK, the Minister of State for Digital, Matt Hancock MP, has said that all new radio receivers for sale in the country should include a DAB digital tuner. John Lewis, a large UK store group, has confirmed that it is planning to phase out the sale of analogue-only AM/FM portable radios from its stores and website.

DAB+ licences for Trend Media and Radio Continu

Trend Media Group BV and the Radio Continu Foundation have obtained licenses for DAB+ broadcasting in the Netherlands. Trend Media will broadcast in parts of North Brabant and Limburg. Radio Continu will start two digital channels in parts of Friesland and Groningen and in parts of North Brabant and Limburg.

Raspberry Pi Generates DAB+ Multiplex Stream

A small-scale DAB broadcasting project in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, has successfully tested an extremely low-cost contribution chain for DAB+ multiplexes. The scalable architecture “might well be the most cost-effective solution to date for local broadcasters interested in DAB transmissions to create a DAB multiplex stream,” according to WorldDAB.
