The most recent figures released by GfK and Jato Dynamics show that DAB+ sales in the Netherlands has almost reached one million.

Dutch public radio broadcasters will receive an additional 750,000 euros for funding of their DAB+ broadcasts for another two years, as confirmed by Media minister Arie Slob.

Other inclusions for the standard Luxury Line grade include BMW’s latest iDrive6 infotainment system with 6.5-inch colour touch-screen, BMW Connected+ and Remote Services, real-time traffic updates and DAB+ radio.

The growth of DAB+ in the Netherlands continues, as more than 885,500 DAB+ radios (including car radios) were sold at the beginning of 2018, according to data from GfK and JATO Dynamics and presented by Digital Radio NL. If growth continues at its current rate, the 1 million mark will be passed this year.

With the high quality aluminum body and rechargeable battery, the Geneva Touring series S and L models support DAB+ / FM Radio and Bluetooth.

Standard are 20-inch signature Alpina alloys, 16-speaker harmon kardon-branded stereo with DAB.

“Radio listening remains strong in cars, but the broadcast industry needs to consider cars as important a platform for digital growth as mobile apps and connected home devices have been in the past, get in the driver’s seat and make sure its services remain visible and attractive propositions,” according to the EBU.

As for audio, there’ll be an 8.0-inch touch screen media unit, with the higher-spec models getting a GPS navigation system with sat nav traffic updates. That multimedia system is set to have DAB radio.

Operator Norkring has started rolling out phase 4, with the number of transmission locations doubling to 20.

In the ultra-competitive market of London, where a typical listener can find over 110 radio stations on their DAB receiver, there’s Fix Radio. The station has just celebrated its first birthday, and is growing both in listenership and in advertising - describing itself as an “important platform to the construction industry’s biggest brands”.
