France's National Confederation of Associative Radios (CNRA) has asked the French media regulator CSA to evaluate whether 'half-scale' DAB+ services could potentially be launched in France. The proposal is to match the resources of associative radios with an adequate territory coverage and a half size multiplex.

A third DAB+ network has gone on air in Slovenia, and is the second digital radio network with national coverage. The new R2 multiplex will include regional and local radio broadcasts and, like the other two, is managed by RTV Slovenija.

Glovane is a company specialised in highly integrated low power digital radio receiver chips and modules for DAB. Glovane has partnered with global supply network and OEM audio manufacturers and is now becoming a global leader in semiconductors. Since 2019, Glovane’s DAB chip and module have been applied to the BT speaker of Harman’s JBL Products and other brand products.

DAB+ continues to develop in Slovenia, with public broadcaster RTV Slovenija having just launched a third DAB+ multiplex - the country's second national multiplex.

Norwegian communications regulator Nkom has announced the start of the auction for DAB frequencies in the Sogn region on 16 October. Registration documents must be submitted by 6 November with the bidding deadline on 13 November. Results will be announced on 18 November.

Paneda has signed a contract with Telenor Norge AS, BMS (Broadcast and Media Services) for the national commercial DAB multiplexer system in Norway, which is now in full operation. This national multiplex is one of the world’s largest DAB networks with a total number of more than 220 transmitters which operates in SFN (Single Frequency Network) nationwide.

Through presentations and case studies, participants will discover how broadcasters are informing their listeners about new DAB+ stations on air, DAB+ signal coverage, and how to find DAB+ in their car and at home. They’ll also gain insight into recent changes in consumer buying patterns for digital radio devices.

From 23 November to 6 December, ARD, Deutschlandradio, private broadcasters, manufacturers and other members of the Digitalradio Deutschland organisation will be promoting the DAB+ digital radio standard. The campaign will include TV and radio spots, print advertising, social media activities and employee training in around 1700 stores.

Now available in French, WorldDAB’s latest market report reveals that by the end of Q2 2020, over 93 million consumer and automotive DAB/DAB+ receivers had been sold in Europe and Asia Pacific – up from 82 million one year earlier.
