Italy's Confindustria Radio Televisioni has published a second edition of the "Radio Observatory", a comparison of the main markets in Europe. ‘This is a crucial moment for the completion of digital broadcasting networks in Italy, because the issue of the shortage of frequencies for local broadcasters is finally being resolved. The transition process, in which radio companies have been investing for some time, will make it possible to improve signal quality, efficient and more sustainable use of frequency resources, and an increased offer for listeners. České Radiokomunikace has deployed a new information spot promoting the advantages of DAB+ digital radio on its information channel "Tune in to digital broadcasting. The telecommunications company České Radiokomunikace (CRA) continues its long-standing cooperation with Czech Radio presenter Tomáš Pancíř, whom listeners may know, for example, from Radiožurnál's midday journalism or 20 Minutes. Pancíř has already conducted a series of interviews for CRA on the occasion of the brand's 60th anniversary or accompanied the Innovation Day industry conference, which is organised by the operator itself. The aim of the new promo spot, which has replaced the existing generic promo loop, is to promote DAB+ digital radio.

ACI Radio turns three: the voice of motoring grows on DAB+

On 3 May 2025, ACI Radio turns three years old and confirms itself as one of the most dynamic and original realities on the Italian radio scene. Established in 2022 as the official radio station of the Automobile Club d'Italia, ACI Radio is today a national, digital, DAB-native radio station that is fully integrated into the infomobility, road safety and motorsport system. ACI Radio is available in DAB+ throughout Italy thanks to the support of the DAB Italia consortium, and also operates in web and app streaming. Hybrid solutions such as RadioDNS are being developed, which combine the broadcast signal with online content visible directly on the car screen, enhancing the mobile listening experience.

TechniSat relies on DAB+ radio for emergency situations

In the wake of recent power cuts in Spain and Portugal, TechniSat, a German manufacturer of consumer electronics products, is highlighting the strategic value of portable digital radios, particularly battery-operated models. In a message to its sales partners, the company emphasises the ability of its DAB+ receivers to remain operational even in the absence of a power supply, guaranteeing uninterrupted access to information in times of crisis. The TechniSat range includes several models designed for use on the move or in emergency situations. Some models, such as the DigitRadio 1 ASA, incorporate the ‘Automatic Safety Alert’ function.

Radios will soon warn of disasters

From the summer, digital radios that support the new Automatic Safety Alert disaster warning technology will go on sale. They will be recognisable by the ASA logo. The technology is based on the digital radio standard DAB+ and is intended to bring official hazard warnings to digital radio receivers, similar to how warning apps and cell broadcasting already do this on current smartphones. The advantage of the additional channel for hazard warnings: DAB+ broadcasting can still function where mobile radio has failed. Switched-off ASA-compatible radios are woken from standby. And local warning messages can also be played out specifically in the affected region.

During the meeting, Narek Adamyan, General Director of the TRBN Armenia CJSC, presented the main areas of the company’s activities, its technical infrastructure, and the current capabilities of radio broadcasting, emphasising the importance of international cooperation for the stable and efficient development of the sector. In turn, the delegation members shared their vision for future cooperation and discussed possible technical and strategic solutions for the transition to digital broadcasting, drawing on international experience and best-practice models.

Digital Radio Perspectives in Armenia: A two-day workshop started in Yerevan

On May 6, a two-day workshop titled “Digital Radio Perspective in Armenia” kicked off in Yerevan. The event was organized by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, the Television and Radio Broadcasting Network of Armenia CJSC, and the international organization WorldDAB. The workshop was opened with remarks by Gevorg Meliksetyan, Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry, and Narek Adamyan, General Director of the Television and Radio Broadcasting Network of Armenia CJSC. The workshop brought together representatives of state agencies, public and private radio companies, and industry-specific organizations. The event featured active Q&A sessions and professional discussions.
