Dorfkindradio starts at the beginning of April via DAB+ in Thuringia

Dorfkindradio is expanding its reach: from the beginning of April, the popular stream will also be available via DAB+ in Thuringia. The Thuringian State Media Authority (TLM) has confirmed the start date of 4 April 2025 via channel 12B. The radio programme, which first went on air on 11 November 2023, has been delighting listeners with an incomparable mix of party songs and current hits ever since. Since the start of the fifth season in 2023, ‘Dorfkindradio’ has been providing the perfect soundtrack for carnival, funfairs, pre-glow and that extra kick during work. From April, Dorfkindradio can be heard not only via dorfkindradio.de and Alexa, but also via DAB+ in Thuringia.

Serbia joins Radioplayer as the 25th country

Concordia calls for deployment of DAB+ in Andorra

The general councilor of the Concordia parliamentary group, Maria Àngels Aché, has presented a set of questions for the Government to answer in writing. Related to radio, Maria Àngels Aché wants to know if the Government has planned to deploy the DAB+ digital radio system. She argues that this technology is being widely deployed throughout Europe and that, in addition to high-definition audio quality, it offers better coverage throughout the territory and additional information for listeners. The general councilor of Concordia also asks if any type of collaboration has been planned with neighboring countries, so that Andorra can take advantage of the deployment of digital radio in France and Spain.

DAB+ launches in Central Aran region of Azerbaijan

On 12 March, the SYES brand 1000 W DAB+ standard radio transmitter, which has been broadcasting digital radio since 2019 at the Baku Teletower Complex, has been replaced with a more powerful and modern 3000 W DAB+ transmitter. Within the framework of the Action Plan, the digital radio broadcasting network has been expanded by installing a 3000 W DAB+ standard radio transmitter with an antenna-feeder system at the Gulustan Radio and Television Broadcasting Station located in the Agsu region. Thus, uninterrupted reception of 12 radio programs has been ensured in the Central Aran region, Agsu, Shamakhi and Ismayilli regions, as well as in surrounding areas. It is planned to cover 99.6 percent of the country's territory with digital radio broadcasting.

Viaplay and Grand Prix Radio join forces: radio coverage via DAB+ and online

It was finally officially announced that Grand Prix Radio and Viaplay will be working together. The Dutch radio rights to Formula 1 will be held exclusively by Grand Prix Radio as a result of this cooperation, the radio station tells Totaal TV. ‘After a two-year absence, Grand Prix Radio is making a strong comeback to the Dutch market with this. The cooperation with Viaplay offers Formula 1 fans maximum flexibility,’ the radio station announced. Thanks to this partnership, it is now easier than ever to also follow Formula 1 races live on radio, no matter where the fan is located. Grand Prix Radio can be heard everywhere nationwide via DAB+, online and via its own Grand Prix Radio app. This means fans can therefore enjoy Formula 1 on Radio without any restrictions.

Radiodays Europe tackles audio industry’s future

Radiodays Europe 2025 was held in Athens from March 9–11. According to the organizers, the event brought together more than 1,500 radio and audio professionals from nearly 50 countries to discuss the major changes and challenges facing the industry. At the opening, Greece’s Deputy Minister Pavlos Marinakis emphasized radio’s enduring importance as a trusted, timely, and democratic medium. He noted that radio continues to reach citizens of all ages and has supported public dialogue and informed societies since the early days of broadcasting. Securing radio’s prominence in car dashboards was also discussed extensively. Sessions explored strategies to protect and enhance radio’s presence in vehicles, emphasizing industry-wide collaboration to keep radio easily accessible in connected cars through DAB+ and smart integration.

TRITON Digital orders DAB systems from Paneda

The system integrator Triton Digital has ordered a complete DAB platform from Paneda. The system has been installed in the Czech Republic for the national broadcaster Broadcast Services (part of the same group as Multiplex24), which is building a DAB network with a total of 31 transmitters. Once completed, the network will cover up to 95% of the population in the target regions. Additionally, a DAB system has been provided for the regional broadcaster GG Omikron, which is developing a DAB network aimed at covering the three largest cities in the Czech Republic. The order includes a software platform based on Docker, hosted on on-premises hardware.

RFI extends its presence in Paris and the Ile-de-France region with its arrival on DAB+

RFI is boosting its accessibility in Paris and the Ile-de-France region by being broadcast on DAB+ in addition to its historic frequency 89FM. The international public radio station is now accessible to listeners with DAB+ compatible reception equipment in and around the French capital. Arcom had authorised the France Médias Monde group to broadcast RFI programmes on DAB+ via the Paris intermediary multiplex 6A, operated by TDF via its transmitters in Romainville and Meudon. Digital terrestrial radio gives RFI a greater presence in Paris and the Île-de-France region, as well as an enhanced listening experience for listeners.
