Receiver manufacturers have made the commitment to release the right products into the market at all price points. All major manufacturers had DAB+ capable receivers in the market by early 2012. By Christmas 2012 DAB+ many new receiver categories came into the market and price points went down. A comprehensive list of DAB+ receivers available in Germanycan be found at: www.digitalradio.de/geraete.

For automotive users, all German manufacturers provide DAB+dealer fit solutions and they are working on the integration of additional data services such as Slideshow or EPG forin-car. Also various aftermarket solutions are available to allow digital radio reception in car.

In March 2011, broadcasters participating in the device working group at BMWi published a service proposal oftheir intended digital radio broadcasts, which ensured that manufacturers had the correct functionality built into theirreceivers for the market. The ‘Proposed List of Services’ is still subject to change according to the on-going discussionsbetween both industry and broadcasters, and is now available in its 3rd edition at: www.digitalradio.de/proposals

Two further documents underpin the ‘Proposed list of Services’.These bring together the points of view from both broadcastersand receiver manufacturers for digital radio services and digital radio products destined for the German market. These documents are: the ‘Proposed usage of text services’ andthe ‘Proposed usage of visual services’ for DAB and DAB+receivers. Both are guidance documents for the preparation as well as the presentation of text and visual services to the listeners.
