Local multiplex: R3 (Ljubljana), carrying 5 stations.

For the national R1 multiplex, portable indoor coverage is 77%, mobile outdoor coverage is 89%, with 90% of highways/motorways covered.

Planning for DAB in tunnels has been completed, with 13 tunnels of more than 500m identified.

On 15 March 2024, the Communications Networks and Services Agency of the Republic of Slovenia has published a public call for tenders for the award of the T-DAB+ national network, for the R4 and R5 multiplexes. Interested bidders may submit their bids until 19 April 2024 at 10.00. The Agency underlines that digital audio broadcasting (DAB) is the future of radio sound broadcasting. In Slovenia, there is a national network R1 and a national network R2, divided into East and West, and a regional network R3. The deployment of the DAB networks R4 and R5 will complement the current infrastructure and provide comprehensive coverage. It will provide listeners with greater convenience, quality and diversity of radio content.

In September 2023, The Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia (AKOS) published its draft Spectrum Management Strategy 2024-2026. The Agency says it is planning a number of activities in the field of digital terrestrial broadcasting, and is consulting on these in December 2023. It intends to launch calls for tenders for the award of digital rights in the new R4 and R5 networks, both covering the whole territory of the Republic of Slovenia, and calls for tenders for the award of national broadcasting rights. It also intends to launch a call for tenders for the award of rights in the R3 and R2 (West/East) areas, in accordance with the available capacity on both networks. In addition, the Agency also intends to promote the use of digital radio and to raise awareness among users and car dealers about the mandatory installation of receivers.
