Deutschlandradio is continuing to drive forward the digitalisation of radio. With eleven new transmitters planned for 2026, the number of DAB+ transmitter sites will rise to a total of 193. Following the successful launch of the Rottweil-Deilingen site at the end of June, further sites are due to come online in the third and fourth quarters in Baden-Württemberg (Witthoh and Heidenheim), Bavaria (Gemünden, Esselbach and Einödriegel), Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Wustrow), Rhineland-Palatinate (Linz), Thuringia (Suhl), Saxony (Weißwasser) and Schleswig-Holstein (Puttgarden). In selected regions with very good digital radio reception, Deutschlandradio switched off a number of smaller FM transmitters with a short range on 30 June.
