Flemish Government approves preliminary draft of new FM and DAB+ allocation rules

12.06.2026 - Belgium Belgium

The Flemish Government has approved an initial version of the preliminary draft of the new licensing decree for radio broadcasters. This decree sets out the future allocation of FM and DAB+ frequencies. The new licences are due to come into effect on 1 January 2028. The rules and conditions of this allocation procedure have now largely been published. Another change concerns the issuing of DAB+ licences. Previously, an operator was granted a licence to operate an entire multiplex. That operator then had to enter into agreements with radio stations itself, similar to MTVNL in the Netherlands.
