Rocket.FM, a new channel in the digital radio network

The rock music channel, Rocket.FM, is now also broadcasting in the digital radio network, which strengthens the offering in the sector’s joint digital radio pilot project that is being implemented. Rocket.FM is a channel offering pure rock. It has been in existence since the mid 1990s. The channel broadcasts under community radio's permit for the Stockholm area. "A niche channel like Rocket.FM has its potential target group dispersed throughout the entire country. Digital technology enables rock lovers outside Stockholm the opportunity of listening to our program," says Eric Paglia, one of the founders of Rocket.FM. The digital radio pilot project is a cooperative effort between Teracom and the program companies. The pilot makes it possible to evaluate the technology, content and reception in advance of a wide launch of digital radio. At present, Teracom broadcasts 15 channels with DAB+ in the digital test network: SR P2 Musik, SR P3, SR P4 Stockholm, SR Metropol, RIX FM, BANDIT, NRJ, Lugna Favoriter, Radio Deejay, Skärgårdskanalen, Dansbandskanalen, Radioseven, Studentradion 98,9, Radio Lidingö and Rocket.FM. Digital radio provides greater freedom of choice, since it is possible to broadcast more channels throughout the entire country, not just in metropolitan areas, which is the situation at present. The available frequencies have space for up to 60 national, regional and local channels, which can be received anywhere that has radio reception, including automobiles and vacation homes.
