Vietnam - Details of Trials - History

Vietnam is now ready to proceed with a further DAB+ trial in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh starting in April 2019.

The trial will include between 4 and 16 channels, using 2.5 kW transmitters. The objectives of the trial are to evaluate coverage parameters and to test signal and sound quality.

The planned 2019 trial will be evaluated in 2020, with a report submitted to the government for approval in 2021, and with the ambitious goal of converting from analogue to digital radio by 2025.

Vietnam currently has a total of 56 FM stations, and deploys 22 MW transmitters, 13 SW transmitters with 15 radio channels.

The latest DAB+ trial was conducted on 26, 27 and 29 July, 2013 at 58 Quan Su str. with four services on air including VOV1, VOV3, VOV5 and VOV GT-HN.

ETRI performed a T-DMB Total Solution integration test with VTV, Broadtech SC from 1 October to 7 October 2008 in Hanoi. VTV launched two TV channels and one DAB Radio service in Hanoi at the beginning of 2010 and by the end of 2010, VTV had increased their services to six TV channels and one radio.

ETRI performed a T-DMB Total Solution integration test with VTV, Broadtech SC from 1 October to 7 October 2008 in Hanoi. VTV launched two TV channels and one DAB Radio service in Hanoi at the beginning of 2010 and by the end of 2010, VTV had increased their services to six TV channels and one Radio . It is not known whether services are still on air.
