In the Netherlands, 60% of weekly radio listening in the Netherlands is done in cars or on the move and 20% of all listening time is in cars. 10% of new cars in the Netherlands come with DAB+ as standard (Source: JATO Dynamics May 2015). This is up from 6% in 2014.
According to a report delivered by JATO Dynamics approximately 50,000 cars have been sold since 2013 – YTD (May) 2015 with DAB radio standardly equipped.
Co-operation with car industry is crucial to the success of DAB+ and the automotive industry is supported through information sessions where car audio retailers and installers are kept up to date with developments in digital radio and supporting marketing campaigns promoting DAB+ digital radio listening.
Approximately 8,000,000 cars have been sold in the Netherlands to date. Each year approximately 400,000 new cars are sold.
