Radio Television Hong Kong formally launched its five DAB channels in 2012.  The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region reviewed the future of DAB services in Hong Kong in 2017.

The public-service broadcaster RTHK, the only remaining broadcaster on the territory's ensemble 'DAB+ Hong Kong' ended its participation in 2017. At the end, five services were being broadcast, including one in Putonghua and a relay of BBC World Service. Three commercial broadcasters, one of which was unique to the digital platform, previously broadcast services on the ensemble but ceased in 2017.
