By end of November 2012, the total network coverage ofdigital radio reached 79.2 % of the area which means nearly 88 % of the population. The national as well as the regionalnetworks have been extended enormously in 2012.
Digitalradio is currently available in all metropolitan areas, alongthe majority of transit routes (Autobahn) and also in a lot ofrural areas. The national multiplex covers nearly 40% of theGerman motorways. Detailed information on the network coverage can be found on www.digitalradio.de/empfang

27 transmitters covering the major towns, cities & motorways (autobahns) are now on-air in Germany.
Population coverage from the 1st August 2011 is approximately 40 million people with planned coverage reaching 99% of the population by 2014.
19 new transmitters are going on-air in 2012 to extend this population, whilst another 40 new or existing transmitters will extend the current network in 2012-2013.
Coverage of each of the Bundeslander is also increasing as the regional public broadcasters go digital. Information on coverage of each of the regions is available from the regulators in each region.
