Over three-quarters of UK listening now digital

More than three-quarters (76%) of UK radio listening each week is now via a digitally enabled platform such as DAB, the latest UK RAJAR audience data shows. AM/FM falls to 24% as the BBC prepares to switch off its Radio 4 Long Wave transmitter at the end of June. In an average week, digital listening accounts for 765 million hours; this is led by DAB, with 57% share of digital listening hours, followed by smart speaker 25%, website/apps 15%, and DTV 3%. In cars, DAB's share of listening stands at 60.7%, up over four points from the same quarter last year (Q1 25: 56.3%). Overall radio listening remains robust, with 50.6 million adults or 87% of the adult (15+) UK population tuned in to their selected radio stations each week in the first quarter of 2026.
