Q&A with Gilles Messlin, CEO of CreaCast and also teacher at INA (Institut National de l’Audiovisuel Paris) in FM and DAB+ radio

CreaCast has recently joined WorldDAB as a member, why have you joined?

Having been actively involved in DAB+ since 2016, CreaCast is now ready to share its extensive knowledge and the specialised tools it provides to all DAB+ operators. Our offerings include real-time DAB+ network supervision and wide area drive tests crucial for SFN optimization and coverage assessment.

What market does your company support and what services do you provide?

We provide the following DAB+ solutions:

DAB-Radar: Independent drive tests for DAB+ radio stations, ensemble and network operators, and car radio manufacturers.

FMNET: Signal monitoring with over 350 DAB+ monitors across Europe and overseas.

Low power broadcast operator in France: French operator specialising in low-power broadcasting.

Can you tell us about your most recent projects?

DAB-Radar is CreaCast’s new DAB+ measurement and analysis platform, introduced in 2026.

CreaCast conducted more than 15,000 km of drive tests across France, Switzerland, and Germany, primarily on highways. During these drive tests, the full DAB+ band is acquired in IQ format. Channel extraction is then performed in IQ, followed by post-processing using virtual FM and DAB+ receivers for decoding and detailed analysis.

Measurements include:

  • RF field strength measurement
  • MER (Modulation Error Ratio) analysis
  • Advanced TII analysis for SFN qualification

Applications:

  • Road and area coverage assessment
  • Before-and-after network comparison
  • Channel coverage comparison
  • SFN qualification and validation
  • Best server coverage analysis
  • Ensemble coverage optimization
  • Laboratory testing using IQ recordings
  • Detection and analysis of side effects, such as receiver desensitization caused by FM H2 interference or co-channel DAB+ signals
What do your customers value most from you?

We are a small team, which makes us agile, flexible, and efficient.
