The WorldDMB General Assembly will bring together over 150 experts from the international digital radio broadcasting industry offering an opportunity to learn about the latest developments, discuss current issues and gain a better understanding of the market.
Hosted in Rome, this year's event will report on the continued growth of DAB/DAB+ digital radio in Italy and across Europe, Asia Pacific and beyond. Thematic issues covered will include:
- Overview of the Italian digital market
- Digital switch over
- Retail and marketing digital radio, including an update on receiver sales by GfK
- Innovations including hybrid radio and solutions for local broadcasters
- Automotive solutions and radio in the digital dash board

Si svolgerà a Roma nei giorni 4 e 5 novembre l’assemblea generale del Forum mondiale sulla radio digitale. Sono attesi oltre cento delegati provenienti da Europa, Asia e Australia.
Il Forum riunisce i principali stakeholders della radiofonia pubblica e privata oltre alle maggiori imprese dei settori dell’elettronica industriale, di consumo e automotive.
L’assemblea esaminerà gli sviluppi delle diffusioni radiofoniche in tecnica digitale DAB+ e l’andamento del relativo mercato. All’Assemblea del Forum interverranno, tra gli altri, il Sottosegretario al Ministero dello sviluppo economico con delega per le Comunicazioni On. Antonello Giacomelli e il Commissario Agcom On. Antonio Martuscello
Anche nel nostro Paese la DigitalRadio è in forte espansione. Attualmente in Italia il nuovo servizio radiofonico è offerto al 65% della popolazione. La DigitalRadio offre un suono perfetto, senza disturbi o interferenze, due qualità che stanno rivoluzionando l’ascolto della radio in Italia. Le principali emittenti radiofoniche nazionali si sono costituite in due società consortili secondo le modalità previste dall’Agcom ottenendo i diritti d’uso delle frequenze per questo servizio in ambito nazionale. Particolare attenzione è rivolta agli automobilisti, grandi consumatori del medium radio con ben il 64% di fedeli ascoltatori . I programmi digitali sono già ricevibili su oltre 4.000 km di autostrade e raccordi. Il settore automotive ha ben risposto alla nuova offerta proponendo questa tecnologia in circa 120 modelli, il 25 % dei quali la prevede di serie.
Il servizio è offerto gratuitamente, come di tradizione per questi programmi. Gli operatori nazionali che hanno lanciato la Digital Radio sono la concessionaria pubblica Rai e le società Consortili Club DAB Italia ed EuroDAB che raggruppano Radio DeeJay, Radio Capital, m2o, Radio Radicale, Radio Maria, RDS, R101,Radio 24, RTL, Radio Italia, Radio Padania e Radio Vaticana.
Il servizio è particolarmente sviluppato in Alto Adige dove è possibile ricevere 98 diversi programmi e servizi aggiuntivi tra i quali gli avvisi della protezione civile. La DigitalRadio, marchio commerciale dello standard DAB+ è in vendita in oltre 1200 negozi e catene di elettronica.
In Europa la DigitalRadio ha raggiunto il successo in molti paesi tra questi nel Regno Unito, Norvegia, Svizzera e Germania si sta pensando allo switch off delle trasmissioni analogiche, probabilmente il primo paese ad abbandonare la vecchia FM sarà la Norvegia alla fine del 2017.

Advance booking for this tour is required. To book this tour please advise the Project Office no later than Tuesday 28th October. Tickets cost 45 euros per person (this price may come down depending on the size of the group). This price includes transport to and from the catacombs.

The first day of this two day event will conclude with the annual WorldDMB Gala Dinner.
This year WorldDMB will host networking drinks and the dinner at the Casina Valadier, an exclusive venue offering a unique dining experience accompanied by magnificent views of the city. The dinner provides an opportunity for event attendees to meet and network in a relaxed and informal environment.
Networking drinks will start from 20:00 followed by a three course dinner.

Nominations have now closed for the WorldDMB Award for Outstanding Service which is presented annually by the WorldDMB President at the Annual General Assembly.
This Award is given to a member of WorldDMB (individual) who is renowned for his or her exceptional efforts in carrying out the promotion and roll-out of the DAB family of standards. It is offered in memory of Per Erik Selemark of Swedish radio, past Vice-President and Chair of the Technical Committee, who died in January 1999.
