Poland holds conference to determine DAB+ future

"This offer is for broadcasters who have declared a willingness to introduce DAB but were restrained by a lack of open frequencies," said Witold Kołodziejski, head of Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT). The meeting provided an opportunity to present a new strategy for DAB+ in Poland up to the year 2022, including a much-awaited licencing process.

The National Broadcasting Council of Slovenia (SRDF) has decided to switch to DAB+ in Ljubljana, with most FM broadcasting to cease from February 2022. In Cork, Ireland, a new small-scale digital radio multiplex is about to begin a 12-month trial period with a capacity to receive 20 programmes. In the UK, Sound Digital's commercial DAB multiplex coverage area will reach an additional four million people following a new agreement with Arqiva. In Lille, DAB+ broadcasts will begin on 19 June.

DAB+ licence tender process opened for Romandy in Switzerland

Swiss Federal Communications Commission (ComCom) has opened a tender for new DAB+ licences for digital radio broadcasting in the French-speaking part of the country, Romandy. The tender documents were published on the regulator's website on 28 May and applications can be submitted until 27 July. The award of licences is expected by the end of the year.
