BBC World Service has been added to the DAB+ offering in The Netherlands. BBC World Service is now available via DAB+ in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.

Titled "DAB+ expansion in Asia Pacific", the WorldDAB workshop will cover the latest developments in DAB+ digital radio, an introduction to hybrid radio, the business case for implementing DAB+ and the benefits of DAB+ in smartphones. This year, for the first time there will be a DAB+ pavilion featuring supply chain companies with a footprint in Asia Pacific - Connects2, Factum Radioscape, GatesAir, IZT, Paneda and RadioDNS.

Titled "DAB+ expansion in Asia Pacific", the WorldDAB workshop will cover the latest developments in DAB+ digital radio, an introduction to hybrid radio, the business case for implementing DAB+ and the benefits of DAB+ in smartphones. Speakers include Joan Warner as well as Lindsay Cornell from the BBC, Les Sabel and Bernie O'Neill from WorldDAB, Nick Piggott from RadioDNS, and Jørn Jensen from NRK in Norway, the first country to switch off FM.

On Tuesday, March 7, 2017, a digital radio event will take place in Berlin with the state secretaries Dorothee Bär (BMVi) and Heike Raab (Rhineland-Palatinate). The event will focus on the key success factors for DAB+ in Germany throughout 2017.

Digital Radio Deutschland has welcomed the interest in proposed nationwide DAB+ multiplex. Dr. Willi Steul, Chairman of Digital Radio Deutschland said "DAB+ is growing rapidly. With the new private DAB+ programmes we expect a strong increase in the acceptance of DAB+ among listeners."

The standard features of the car have been improved, with an 8.0-inch colour touchscreen monitor across the range, including a digital radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a satellite navigation system sitting within Ford’s Sync3 multimedia pack.

Other features of the interior include dual-zone climate control, DAB digital radio with 6.5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, satnav and cruise control.

Jamm FM, the local broadcasters for Ouder-Amstel has begun broadcasting via DAB+.

DAB+ digital radio is now also spreading in Eastern Europe. In December 2016, the state-owned LVRTC radio station in Latvia started a DAB+ trial. The trial offers 18 DAB+ programmes.

When buying a new radio, attention should be paid to whether the radio has DAB+, says German radio director Willi Steul. The Federal Ministry of Traffic and Transport (BMVI) has published its digital radio action plan and there will now be a series of discussions with the individual states (Länder), led by Rhineland-Palatinate and BMVI.
