Digital radio to be launched in Thailand in 2018
17.03.2017 - National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand WorldDAB Member - Thailand Thailand
NBTC plans to launch digital radio in 2018 and states that guidelines should be finalised before the start of a nationwide trial. DAB+ licenses are to be gradually sold nationwide, regionally and then locally. The first trial DAB+ broadcasts began in Bangkok in March 2013.

DTS will show connected radio at RadioDays Europe

UK's first DAB+ only multiplex lands in Brighton

The United Kingdom now has its first multiplex to convert all of its services to the DAB+ broadcast standard. Juice 107.2 serving the Brighton and Hove area has made the switch from DAB to DAB+. Listeners in Brighton now have a choice of 12 DAB+ stations. The Brighton and Hove small-scale DAB multiplex was one of the first piloted back in 2012 and 2013, and is one of 10 locations.

Broadcasting Commission takes note of the DAB+ action plan

The Radio Commission of the Länder took note of the "Action Plan for the Transformation of Radio Broadcasting in the Digital Age" at its meeting on 15 March. Last month, the action plan was also approved by BMVI's Digital Radio Board.

Technical innovations with small-scale DAB in Rhineland-Palatinate

The Landeszentrale für Medien und Kommunikation (LMK), Rhineland-Palatinate, has presented an innovative project aimed at facilitating entry into the digital world, especially for local radio and broadcasting media. The LMK has been working in cooperation with the University of Kaiserslautern and the TU Kaiserslautern exploring the suitability of the small-scale DAB transmitter concept for local radio.

First DAB figures following digital switchover

On January 11 off the FM network in Nordland was turned off as part of the digital switchover underway in Norway. DAB is now the most common platform for radio in Nordland. 81 percent of all radio listeners use DAB, before shutdown the reach was 57 percent.
