In Germany, at a recent meeting of Landeszentrale für Medien und Kommunikation (LMK), the State Media Authority of Rhineland-Palatinate, an innovative project aimed at facilitating broadcaster’s entry into the world of digital broadcasting was revealed. The portable DAB radio station known as "ODR2go" is an inexpensive means by which local radio stations are able to start transmitting in DAB+.

UK DAB expansion largely complete

Over the last few years 435 new national and local DAB transmitters have been activated across the UK. The coverage of local DAB stations has now increased to 90% of UK households in a program co-funded by local commercial radio stations and multiplex operators, BBC and DCMS and coordinated by Ofcom.

More than 53 million DAB receivers sold worldwide

Yesterday, at the 48th Session of the Media Council, Bayerische Landeszentrale fur neue Medien (BLM) revised the guidelines for the promotion of technical infrastructure of radio offerings. The TIF Directive, which will come into force on 1 July 2017, is focused on the promotion of digital radio broadcasting in Bavaria.

Radio campaign to help listeners

Denmark's Palaces and Culture Agency, with communications agency Prime Time, has produced a public information campaign on digital radio which will be broadcast across Denmark over the next two years. The campaign will inform everyone that DAB radio will be transmitted in DAB+ from 1st October 2017. It is hoped that the campaign will also increase in-car digital radio listening and raise awareness on how to receive digital radio in cars.
