Today it is one month until NRK stops sending on FM in Oslo, Akershus, Østfold and Vestfold. "FM broadcasts from NRK will expire on September 20." says Ole Jørgen Torvmark, general manager of Digital Radio Norway, representing national radio.

As FM is switched off, drivers are looking at solutions for their cars. "There are many possibilities for you to retrofit DAB. Someone choose a new radio or fully integrated solution. " says Geir Johansen at the car dealership Your Car Service at Borgenhaugen.

The first half of 2017 has seen rapid growth in sales of DAB+ receivers across Europe – driven by Norway’s switchover from FM to DAB+ and the development of digital radio markets across the continent. The latest GfK research, covering nine European markets, shows a 30% increase in sales volumes for the first six months of 2017 compared to the same period last year.

Digital Radio UK and the Radio Academy Wales, in partnership with RadioToday, are holding a free digital radio event in Cardiff on October 5th. The event will look at the current Welsh radio landscape, including BBC, commercial and community stations; discover Wales’ greatest radio moment; the future of digital radio in Wales and in cars; and explore the demand for new stations in Wales, and the potential for the launch of a new local DAB multiplex or DAB mini-mux.

Rock music station ‘XS Manchester’ is set to become the 29th service to join the city’s local DAB+ multiplex. From tomorrow, the station will be heard on DAB+ across the city, as well as on 106.1FM and online.
