Southern Cross Austereo has added a new country-themed digital music station to its offering, available on DAB+. Triple M Country – a station featuring contemporary music by Australian and international country artists – will launch at midnight on February 1.

The Picanto X-Line sits on 16-inch alloy wheels and features LED daytime running lights. Inside, you get a seven-inch touchscreen compatible with Bluetooth and DAB radio, in addition to smartphone compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The central screen links to optional screens for rear passengers, which come with wireless remotes and headphones. For use of the DAB radio and music offerings, Jaguar fits a Meridian surround-sound system for one of the best speaker setups in its class.

DAB+ listening continued to grow throughout 2017 as well: More than 3.6 million people listened each week to DAB+ in the five metropolitan capitals, nearly double the number of people that listened to radio via streaming.

Chaux will also support CRA's DAB digital radio team, led by head of strategic development Kath Brown, with a specific focus on DAB content initiatives for metropolitan and regional members.

The speeches of CSA chairman Olivier Schrameck and council member Nicolas Curien at last week's Salon de la Radio reiterated the desire to deploy DAB+ services throughout France, with at least 70% of the country to be covered by 2020.

Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner said new head of digital Jaime Chaux will be responsible for the all-of-industry RadioApp, podcasting strategy and policy, social media, DAB content and other emerging areas of multiplatform innovation. Chaux will also support CRA’s DAB+ digital radio team, led by Head of Strategic Development Kath Brown, with a specific focus on DAB+ content initiatives for metropolitan and regional members.

WorldDAB has joined with the European Broadcasting Union and the European Digital Radio Alliance to call upon EU decision makers to introduce measures to encourage the interoperability of radio receivers across the EU.
