WorldDAB launches in-car radio guidelines

The guidelines are based on consumer research carried out in five different countries where drivers were asked to carry out simple tasks using different car radios. Developed by the WorldDAB Automotive Working Group, the guidelines are the result of collaboration between broadcasters and car manufacturers. The design guidelines are based on seven use-cases, informed by the research, to ensure the guidelines are based on the actual experience of consumers.

Record DAB+ sales in Norway in 2017

Two million DAB+ radios were sold in Norway last year, more than doubling the total sales in 2016, following from the country’s successful digital switch over. Norwegians bought 1.1 million home and portable radios, 700,000 car adaptors, along with 159,000 cars line fit with DAB+ radios. Research from Kantar Media showed that by November 2017, 85% of Norwegians owned at least one DAB+ radio at home, and that 49% of all private cars had a DAB+ radio installed.

A new DAB+ station will be launched in Italy following an agreement between broadcasters RadioMediaSet and Monradio aimed at promoting digital radio broadcasting. Radio 105, with almost 5 million listeners per day is one of the first of the five National FM stations set up in Italy. Mr. Salvaderi’s decision to move to DAB+ with Monradio “105DAB” is a very positive signal for the digital future of radio in Italy.

DAB+ market share in Switzerland grows to 34 percent

Listening to the radio in Switzerland has become increasingly digital, especially thanks to the implementation of the DAB standard, reported CEToday referring to a study by Digimig. DAB+ has increased its market share by 10 percent during the past two years to 34 percent currently, which represents an increase of 11 percent since autumn 2015.
