One of the best-known local radio stations in Scotland is to stop broadcasting on medium wave. Northsound 2 in Aberdeen will be the first established radio station in Scotland to end analogue broadcasting, and will be only available on digital and online from 3 April.

Northsound 2 is to become the first radio station in Scotland to voluntarily turn off its analogue transmitter in favour of DAB.

WorldDAB Technical Committee’s Les Sabel shared a vision for the future of broadcasting and audience engagement. “Combining streaming and broadcast… will give us the most cost-effective delivery of our primary content. But we want to use the IP to complement that to deliver alternative content, features and interactivity. It’s the best of both worlds. Minimum cost, maximum impact."
