DAB+ commercial radio coverage in Flanders is improved again

Norkring has switched on the support station that is located between Turnhout and Hasselt, further growing DAB+ coverage in Flanders. In the period between April and September, the network will be further expanded to 20 support stations.

DAB digital radio project being introduced to Czech schools

In the support of media literacy in the Czech Republic, the company RTI cz s.r.o. has prepared a project "Digital Radio in Schools". Through lectures, presentations and listening to the newest DAB radio platform, RTI cz s.r.o wants to bring digital radio closer to technical vocational, technical secondary schools and technical universities.

Digital Radio UK hosts key stakeholder meeting with Norwegian counterparts on digital progress

At a Digital Radio UK event on Wednesday stakeholders from the Norwegian radio industry provided an update to their British counterparts on progress and key learnings from the world’s first digital radio switchover. In the UK it is expected that digital listening will reach the 50% when the next RAJAR results are published in May. Once this threshold has been met Government has committed to review its policy on a digital switchover.

Radiodays Europe switches onto Norway’s DSO

Three months after completing the world’s first digital radio switchover, representatives from the Norwegian radio sector came together at Radiodays Europe in Vienna for an in-depth workshop session, with a panel of speakers reflecting the key stakeholders involved in the DSO process, with 200 delegates from 20 countries in attendance.

WorldDAB comment on BBC digital switchover news

It’s clear that the BBC remains fully committed to digital radio across all its platforms and we are pleased that listening over broadcast digital radio continues to grow year on year. The UK radio industry and government have invested in the infrastructure to deliver DAB coverage to over 98% of the population. 62% of homes now have access to a DAB set and 90% of new cars now have DAB as standard.

WorldDAB calm About BBC statement to retain FM for now

The BBC’s decision to retain FM radio transmissions alongside DAB and web streaming is not raising alarms at WorldDAB; the global association that promotes the DAB/DAB+ digital radio standard. “The radio industry and government have invested in the infrastructure to deliver DAB coverage to over 98 percent of the population [in the UK],” WorldDAB President Patrick Hannon said.
