Südwestrundfunk (SWR) will expand its DAB + network in Baden-Württemberg this year. The focus of this expansion is on the Württemberg Allgäu and parts of the Bodensee-Oberschwaben region.

With the commissioning of the station in Meerhout, naval operator Norkring finalised the rollout of phase 3 of the commercial DAB+ network in Flanders last Friday, with 10 stations now operating. Later this year the number of channels will be doubled again to 20. The first channel of this expansion (phase 4) that will be started is Nieuwkerken-Waas between Antwerp and Ghent.

According to information from Radiowoche, Rock Antenne plans a nationwide DAB+ distribution in Austria, following their continuous expansion in the German market. Company spokesman Stefan Assfalg confirmed this: "of course, these activities are part of our strategy to further expand the Rock Antenne network in all German-speaking areas on all distribution channels".

RadioDNS' Project Logo service utilises the RadioDNS standard in the delivery of hybrid radio content in connected broadcast radios and provides a valuable source of broadcast radio metadata from supporting broadcasters.

Norkring has switched on the support station that is located between Turnhout and Hasselt, further growing DAB+ coverage in Flanders. In the period between April and September, the network will be further expanded to 20 support stations.

Pure will present its new range of radios to the MedPi show being held in Paris between April 4-6, including the Move R3, Move T4 and the Evoke H Prestige range.

In the support of media literacy in the Czech Republic, the company RTI cz s.r.o. has prepared a project "Digital Radio in Schools". Through lectures, presentations and listening to the newest DAB radio platform, RTI cz s.r.o wants to bring digital radio closer to technical vocational, technical secondary schools and technical universities.

At a Digital Radio UK event on Wednesday stakeholders from the Norwegian radio industry provided an update to their British counterparts on progress and key learnings from the world’s first digital radio switchover. In the UK it is expected that digital listening will reach the 50% when the next RAJAR results are published in May. Once this threshold has been met Government has committed to review its policy on a digital switchover.

FM and DAB+ tuners are also on the spec sheet, and those who still have large CD collections will be pleased by the inclusion of a CD slot, below which is a touchscreen.
