GatesAir is getting ready to send its final shipments of transmitters to Norway, bringing the total of its transmitters deployed to 1218 in support of Norway's transition to DAB. GatesAir says it has been involved in Norway’s DAB digital radio activity since the nation’s first tests in 1994.

The model variant RX-D485 also has a DAB+ tuner for digital radio reception on board.

This accessory, in addition to allowing you to listen to FM radio stations, supports the DAB standard, which means that it receives and decodes this type of signal and offers in areas covered in Italy (for radios that already support it from now) very high quality broadcasts, with sound comparable to that of CDs or digital players.

The range of DAB stations is endless. There’s 40 presets available – 20 for FM and another 20 for DAB.

ARD, Deutschlandradio, private providers and other members of the association Digitalradio Deutschland will be promoting DAB+ together within the framework of an action period from 2 May to 11 May. Among the cross-media measures include TV and radio spots, print and online motifs and program notes. The radio spots put a focus on the digital reception under the slogan "DAB+, because that's how radio goes today".

Sessions scheduled to take place during the event will focus on digital and key markets, the user experience, the connected car, the dashboard, technical aspects, the aftermarket, as well as the role of dealerships.

In order for the Swiss population to be able to prepare for the migration of the broadcasting of radio programme services from FM to DAB+, the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) today issued an invitation to tender for a four-year DAB+ information campaign beginning in 2019. In this way the Federal Office is supporting the radio industry, which will increasingly broadcast programme services digitally via DAB+ networks and switch off its FM stations in a few years.

Over the next few years, radio broadcasting via FM will gradually be replaced by DAB+. To make the digital technology even better known, the federal government has now launched a second information campaign for 5.5 million francs.

A new study commissioned by Saxon State Institute for Private Broadcasting and New Media (SLM),the Leipzig Society for Market Analysis and Strategy mbH has found that use of DAB+ has more than doubled in Germany's Saxony region since 2016 at 130%.

The dual screen multimedia system has an excellent response to touch and is quite intuitive, it also offers all the most modern solutions (such as bluetooth and DAB radio) and allows smartphone connection.
