The Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA) has announced the 18 radio groups that have been granted a national DAB+ broadcasting licence. These include all major commercial radio groups as well as a number of smaller independent radio stations.

The Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA) is set to announce the 18 radio groups that have been granted a national DAB+ broadcasting licence this week, as France continues its path towards the digitisation of radio.

As announced by the French Minister of Culture Franck Riester, all six of Radio France's radio stations - France Inter, Franceinfo, France Culture, France Musique, Fip and Mouv’ - will be available on DAB+. According to the Minister, this will provide listeners with more content, as well as improving overall sound quality.

In a session on digital radio business case studies at the ABU’s Digital Broadcasting Symposium, the CEO of Australia’s biggest commercial broadcasting network Grant Blackley talked about how his company is monetising DAB+.

Representatives of both public and private broadcasters at ABU DBS in Kuala Lumpur said digital radio standards such as DAB+ are helping the radio industry boom by enabling broadcasters to expand their range of services and their audience reach.

As part of its continued expansion in the EMEA region, GatesAir has appointed broadcast industry veteran Alexander Kurz to its EMEA sales team. He will work closely with the broader EMEA sales and business development team in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, as well as with countries to the south and east of the Ukraine and Russia, where he will support regional roadshows, customer visits and partner training sessions.
