DAB+ trial license granted for Bulgaria

DAB+ will be making its way to Bulgaria, as EF DIP Treiding has been awarded a trial license to transmit DAB+ digital radio in the territory of Sofia. The license was issued by the Communications Regulation Commission.

Arqiva confirms sale plan

UK-based communications and TV facilities business Arqiva has reported its 9-month revenue saying that it was enjoying “double digit” earnings growth and an order book of €6.96bn. The Group is delivering the DAB rollout programme for the BBC. By 31st March 2017, Arqiva had built 161 new transmitters for the BBC, to reach the targeted UK national DAB network coverage of more than 97 per cent of the population.

Arqiva: revenues up; strong demand for Freeview & DAB capacity

Arqiva, the company behind much of the UK's radio and TV infrastructure, has reported growth in revenue helped by strong take up of Freeview and DAB capacity. The revenue growth was driven by multiple factors, according to Arqiva including additional new video streams on the main multiplexes and radio contracts resulting from the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) roll-out, the continuing clearance of the 700 MHz spectrum, and inflationary linked increases on broadcast contracts.

Manchester minimux to carry 28 radio stations

The small-scale DAB trial in Manchester operated by Niocast is to carry at least 28 radio stations by the end of the month with nice new services added soon, including Vinejuice, Radio Diamond and Trafford Sound. It’s the only multiplex in the world to carry as many services – and is made possible by almost all of stations transmitting via DAB+.

Sächsische Landesansta review applications for DAB+ trial in Leipzig and Freiberg

At it's meeting on May 22, the SLM (Sächsische Landesmedienanstalt) announced they would reviewing the submitted applications for tenders from broadcasters for a DAB+ trial in Leipzig and Freiberg. The trial will have 15 stations in Leipzig and 13 stations in Freiberg.

Successful DAB+ campaign and brand management in Germany

The cross-media DAB+ marketing campaign launched on 2 May in Germany has ended with a flurry of TV, radio and network coverage. The campaign has been the largest since the introduction of DAB+ six years ago, and two additional periods of action have now been set for later in the year.
