Infinite Dial study shows radio continues to be the key driver of audio consumption in Australia

A new study released by global firm Edison Research reveals the digital audio, social media, mobile and podcast habits of Australians. The Australian Infinite Dial Study commissioned by Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and Triton Digital, provides new insights into what Australians are consuming online. Radio is the leading audio platform consumed by Australians with 85% of people having listened to an AM/FM or DAB+ station in an average week, compared to Spotify 21%, Podcasting 10%, Pandora 8%, Apple Music 6%, Google Play All Access 2%.

Public consultation for DAB+ in Rouen and Nantes published

The Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel plans to launch a call for applications in digital terrestrial radio (RNT) on Nantes and Rouen. The application proposes 11 new digital radio services in Rouen and 6 new services across Nantes. Responses to the public consultation should be addressed to the Higher Audiovisual Council no later than 6 July 2017.

Sahaga launch

Hans Christian Andersen, Chief Executive Officer, Sahaga AS has launched Sahaga TV. An online TV channel dedicated to DAB+. "It´s important to us to showcase all digital radios from POP. This way the public get to know the features, sizes and form factors. This service is best provided by making a TV-show. We most definitively do not have NRK or TV2-standard, but a lot of viewers report back to us", he says."

More people tuning in to digital radio

Public consultation for DAB+ in Nantes and Rouen

The Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel plans to launch a call for applications in digital radio (RNT) on Nantes and Rouen. This launch of a call for applications in these areas should be preceded by a public consultation and impact studies in order to measure both the metropolitan and the local level the impact of the launching of the proposed calls within the framework of the calendar published by the Council.

Liverpool radio scene celebrated at Radio City

Liverpool’s radio broadcasters gathered on Tuesday evening at the top of the Radio City Tower to celebrate the rise of digital radio in the area. The special event, Doing the DAB: Liverpool, was organised by Digital Radio UK and Radio Academy North West and featured a line-up of speakers from BBC and commercial radio in Liverpool. Attendees heard that overall radio listening in Liverpool has grown by 7% in the last 5 years, supported by 80% growth of digital listening. This has been driven by an increase in the number of DAB stations to 66 and the advancement of DAB household penetration to over 64% in the Liverpool area.

In total are now 232 local DAB programs on air in 9 areas
