Three radio stations in the Upper Palatinate and five stations in the Lower Bavaria regions of Germany will begin DAB+ broadcast from 3 July.

Like the SR5-grade HiLux on which these two are based, there are numerous features to help smooth over the commercial underpinnings, including a 7.0-inch touchscreen with integrated satellite navigation, DAB+ radio, Bluetooth streaming and voice commands.

New figures reported by the Bavarian State Centre for New Media (BLM) show that more than 26% of the total population (14 years and over) own a DAB+ device - an increase of about 30% from last year. The report also showed car radio ownership increased by 145% from last year.

The Kona diesel and Santa Fe comes with DAB radio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With the launch of DAB+ in the Hauts-de-France, 51 radio stations are now broadcast digitally in the Hauts-de-France region. Today, 470 million people are covered by DAB+ services worldwide, with more than 60 million receivers sold.

A new report has shown a significant increase for DAB+ listening in Bavaria, with a 30% rise of people aged 14 and over owning at least one DAB+ device at home, while there has been a 145% increase from last year for digital listening in the car. The report also showed 15% of the Bavarian population listen to digital radio on a working day, an increase from 11.7% last year.

Trim levels start from SE for the 39kWh model and include a 7-inch display audio including DAB, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, rear parking sensors with rear view camera, Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel controls and a leather steering wheel.

Rock Antenne and 88.6 have now been made available on DAB+ in Vienna. "It is gratifying that a large number of programs are already available in Austria just a few months after the start of DAB+. What has started in the Greater Vienna area should be a school throughout Austria," says Matthias Gerwinat, Managing Director of Digitalradio Austria.

The Swabian regional programme of Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) will begin on 2 July on a new DAB+ channel that is part of the organisation's long-term expansion plans. Throughout Bavaria, the DAB+ transmitter network is expanding to 50 locations, with 89.6 percent of Bavarians receiving BR content within buildings, and within cars and outdoors, the figure rises to 97.3 percent.
