WorldDAB has announced the line-up for its popular annual Digital Radio Workshop, taking place on Monday 6 March at ABU's 2017 Digital Broadcasting Symposium

Mats Åkerlund, Vice-Chair of the EBU New Radio Group and Head of Digital Strategy at WorldDAB member, Swedish Radio, has died after a short illness. Mats worked for more than 40 years at Swedish Radio, had several international assignments in radio, and was a valued member of WorldDAB. 

South Tyroleans can look forward to another digital radio station DRadio Wissen, which is coming on air on January 31 2017.

Radio listeners in Damme will be able to get their NDR radio programmes in even better quality in the future. The new DAB+ transmitter in Damme will supply the region between Bramsche and Vechta as well as Quakenbrück and Diepholz in Lower Saxony from Friday, 27 January.

WorldDAB's session at the European Radio Show will give an update on the growth of DAB+ digital radio across Europe, from those countries ready for digital switchover to those in the process of launching.

The Extended Council of the Bavarian Broadcasting Council (BR) and the Deciding Committee of the Media Council of the Bavarian State Center for New Media (BLM) met for their 12th exchange of views on 20 January. The main topics were the cooperation between BR and BLM in the operation of the DAB+ network in Bavaria and the plans of the media network in Bavaria.
