A new internet portal which provides detailed information about DAB+ in Switzerland has launched in Switzerland. dabplus.ch is replacing digitalradio.ch, which has been following the development of digital radio for the last few years.

Other features include selectable driving modes, a 3.5-inch TFT driver’s information display in the instrument cluster, Fiat Chrysler’s UConnect 6.5-inch infotainment system with DAB+ digital radio and Bluetooth, and eight speakers.

During EBU's Digital Radio Week RadioDNS is hosting a joint Automotive UX workshop with WorldDAB that will focus on improving the experience of using radio in the car, drawing on hybrid radio techniques to improve the user interfaces to broadcast radio in the dashboard.

Details for WorldDAB’s annual Digital Radio Workshop, which is scheduled to take place during the 2017 ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium, have been announced. Titled “DAB+ expansion in Asia Pacific,” the workshop plans to cover DAB+ digital radio developments, an introduction to hybrid radio, the business case for implementing DAB+ and the benefits of DAB+ in smartphones.

WorldDAB has completed a comprehensive review and revision of the DAB standard, identifying obsolete features, clarifying the description of features to aid interoperability, and updating specific features. This work ensures that the system standard is fit for the future.

The European Radio Show 2017 concluded in Paris with a commitment to play host to even more international exhibitors and conference speakers in the 2018 edition. WorldDAB hosted a digital radio session within the main conference programme titled “A vision for the future of radio: DAB+ in Europe.” The session featured broadcasters, regulators and digital radio experts from across Europe.

The RAS converted all of its digital radio programmes from DAB to DAB+ and put the DRadio Wissen radio station operation. The RAS now distributes 22 radio stations in South Tyrol in the high-quality DAB + standard.
