Norway began switching off its national FM networks on 11 January, becoming the first country move towards a fuller digital radio infrastructure. The digital switchover (DSO) will continue over the course of this year, with the last region due to lose analogue transmissions in December.

Digital radio is on the move in Latvia, as the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre has announced that it is increasing the reception zone for its DAB+ trials. The transmission supplier originally placed the zone at 40 kilometers around Riga when the tests began in late 2016, but it has now been bumped up to 60 kilometers.

In a report to the Ministry of Culture NRK outlines that they experienced few problems with the first stage of the digital switchover in Nordland. Listening figures (PPM from Kantar TNS) show that niche digital channels experienced an upsurge in listeners immediately following the digital switchover
