On 17 October, all of the Belgian public broadcaster VRT’s radio channels began broadcasting via DAB+. VRT is now simulcasting its stations Radio 1, Radio 2, Klara, Studio Brussel and MNM on FM and DAB+, while it is also making available its online radio selections, which include MNM Hits, Klara Continuo and VRT NWS, on DAB+.

WorldDAB has chosen Paris as the location of its next General Assembly. For two days, Nov. 7–8, the topic will be DAB radio. The General Assembly will bring together over 200 digital radio experts to discuss the future of radio, DAB+ deployments around the world, and a European vision of digital radio.

More and more districts are being filled up by local radio on DAB. Still, there are some areas that are empty, but now Media Authority has received applications for licenses in Hardanger and East Finnmark.

The latest market report from WorldDAB reveals that by the end of the second quarter of 2017, nearly 60 million receivers DAB/DAB+ consumer and automotive (58,432,000) have been sold in Europe and Asia Pacific, up from 48 million a year ago.
