Care Radio adds DAB in Manchester

The UK’s only radio station dedicated to serving the country’s nine million paid and unpaid carers is now available on DAB in Manchester. “In the year we’ve been on air, we have grown a loyal listenership on our digital platforms, but we know that to really make it easy for people to listen, we need to be on DAB,” explained Care Radio CEO John Dash. “Manchester is the latest in our network of cities where we’re on DAB and we have many more in the pipeline." Care Radio is already available on DAB in London, Surrey, Northeast Hampshire, and Portsmouth - and now on the trial Manchester multiplex.

Virgin Radio Pride UK returns on DAB in June for more LGBTQ+ celebration

Award-winning pop up radio station Virgin Radio Pride UK is returning to the airwaves for its second season on June 1st, to broadcast more big LGBTQ+ conversations throughout the summer and play more great music. Femotion gains approval for state-wide DAB+ coverage

Aimed primarily at women, "Femotion" has received approval for Saxony-wide DAB+ coverage, as approved by the SLM Media Council at its meeting on 24 May. With Femotion, a total of ten commercial radio programmes are now available state-wide on DAB+.

Gold Coast's Hot Tomato radio expands brand portfolio on DAB+

Safety a major aspect of DAB+ tunnel coverage

The newly opened Rosenstein Tunnel in Stuttgart, Germany brings 35 programmes to listeners. Safety was a major consideration in the design of the tunnel - in the event of an incident affecting traffic inside the tunnel, drivers will receive emergency tunnel announcements via DAB+.

Germany's dpd Driver's Radio to broadcast top camper life podcast

One of Germany's hottest podcasts about road trips, camping and mobile lifestyle launches a collaborative weekly podcast that will be broadcast across Germany via DAB+. Titled "dpd DRIVER'S RADIO meets Campermen" the podcast will be broadcast nationwide via DAB+ from 22 May, with interesting experiences from special places or encounters with exciting people, interviews with artists, technology tips and music.

Driving radio into the future, can it still be the star of the car?

Radioplayer's Mike Hill hosted a session at Radiodays Europe which considered why some car manufacturers are downgrading radio in the car and what the radio industry can do to stop it. VW and Volvo agreed that the differing types of broadcasting, DAB+, AM/FM etc, make it difficult, though not impossible, to create a standard worldwide entertainment unit in vehicles. However radio’s delivery into the car is likely to change in coming years and to be more IP orientated, but for the moment radios will mainly continue to get their programmes from the broadcast antenna.
