Swiss Music Radio to launch the first commercial DAB programme in Switzerland

Only two days before the Swiss Office of Communication BAKOM officially closed its call for tender for the second DAB layer in German-speaking Switzerland, Swiss Music Radio handed in its application for the launch of a new music and information channel on DAB. Swiss Music Radio thus became the first Swiss commercial radio station to announce its commitment to the new DAB digital radio platform in Switzerland and is planning to start broadcasting its new DAB channel in the cities of Bern, Basle and Zurich as early as December 2007 - exclusively on DAB, with no simulcasting on FM anywhere in Switzerland.
