Switzerland

Sumatronic has launched the first Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) repeater to comply with regulations set out by Swiss telecoms watchdog Bakom. The software engineering company is aiming the product chiefly at retailers with poor DAB radio reception because their premises have metal shutters, or are in a basement or large complex. The equipment includes a roof mast and reception antenna in the shop.

As part of the ‘EWF Projekt Bayern’ (Emergency Warning Functionality) a trial will be run on digital radio in Channel 12D, on Tuesday August 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This trial is aimed at improving the functionality of the EWF system.

Poland

Digital radio in Poland will increase coverage and launch new radio stations. The Polish Radio's switch to digital broadcasting is planned in another six cities in October. As a result, digital radio should be available to 30 percent of Poles by the end of the year.
