Currently 93% of the population can receive DAB and today's switch on will mean an additional 31,000 households will be able to get a BBC DAB signal, while digital radio reception for a further 240,000 households will be improved.

Global Radio is making a number of changes to the platforms used by its London radio stations broadcasting on DAB. “We are moving these services in order to use our digital capacity more effectively. We are asking listeners to re-tune their receivers to pick up these changes.”

Digital radio launched in France on June 20, 2014, joining the United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark and Switzerland, where the standard is well-established, according to WorldDMB. Germany launched DAB+ in 2011 with the Netherlands following in 2013.

Derbyshire DAB launch line-up revealed

Bayerischer Rundfunk WorldDAB Member
Bavaria Radio continues to expand the reach of its DAB+ network
Bayerischer Rundfunk (Bavaria Radio) will launch a new DAB+ multiplex on the first of July from the 1686 meter high Laber in Oberammergau.
The addition of Oberammergau on channel 11D will mean that Bavaria Radio will have 23 digital stations available throughout Bavaria. 93% of the highways are already covered, along with 89% of the population.
