ARTP-TDS-SA: Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the transfer of the Radio Numérique Terrestre (RNT) infrastructure
On 10 September 2026, the ARTP and TDS-SA signed the memorandum of understanding on the transfer of the Radio Numérique Terrestre (RNT) infrastructure, marking the start of a new phase for radio broadcasting in Senegal. In Senegal, the RNT pilot project has been initiated and led by the ARTP since 2022. In its capacity as the national broadcasting operator, TDS-SA is now taking over and has been entrusted with the management of this infrastructure – including its commissioning, operation and maintenance – with a view to supporting the gradual roll-out of DAB+.

WorldDAB and Broadcast Networks Europe call for broadcast radio to be guaranteed in new vehicles under the Digital Networks Act
WorldDAB and Broadcast Networks Europe (BNE) are calling on EU policymakers to use the Digital Networks Act (DNA) to ensure that broadcast radio remains available in new vehicles across Europe. As the DNA progresses through the European legislative process, the two organisations are urging policymakers to strengthen the provisions inherited from the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC). The two organisations will explore these issues further at IBC2026 in Amsterdam in their joint conference session, “Broadcast radio's moment: resilient, relevant, irreplaceable”, on Sunday 13 September, 14:30–16:00 in Room E102, followed by networking and refreshments co-hosted by WorldDAB and BNE.

Safety announcements on DAB+ radio: Deutschlandradio and Media Broadcast launch the ‘ASA DE’ service to mark National Safety Day
In a crisis, every minute counts. To mark today’s National Warning Day, Media Broadcast and Deutschlandradio are launching the new ASA DE service. In future, official announcements in the event of hazards and crises will be broadcast via the Germany-wide DAB+ platform on channel 5C. This is being implemented in collaboration with the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK). The system is based on the Automatic Safety Alert (ASA) and is now entering its roll-out phase. To receive ASA DE, listeners will need to perform a station scan on their DAB+ radio. Listeners can find further information at www.dabplus.de/asa. ASA DE complements the so-called ‘warning mix’ within the federal government’s Modular Warning System (MoWaS). In future, safety information can thus be disseminated specifically via the DAB+ digital radio standard, alongside traditional warning methods such as sirens, apps or cell broadcast.

KTO Radio is making a name for itself
To mark the start of the new academic year and raise awareness of its radio station, KTO is launching a major advertising campaign which you’ll be able to see not only in your favourite magazines but also on buses and at bus stops in Paris and several other major French cities. Three years after its launch, KTO Radio has hit its stride and is now available on DAB+, which is set to cover 80 per cent of mainland France shortly. Since September 2023, KTO Television’s sister station has been broadcasting its programmes 24 hours a day.

A new DAB+ radio station is set to make its debut on the Belgian airwaves
To mark the Wallonia-Brussels Federation Day, a pop-up radio station is set to hit the airwaves. Called TALENTS, it will be available for just three days, from 25 to 27 September, and will devote its entire schedule to local artists and culture. Launched by maRadio.be in collaboration with Belgian French-speaking radio stations, this station will be available free of charge and exclusively via DAB+. It will begin broadcasting on Friday 25 September at 6 pm and will go off air on Sunday 27 September at midnight.

MEPs join with radio sector: "The Digital Networks Act must ensure broadcast radio is present in cars"
On 9 September 2026, the Association of European Radios and the European Broadcasting Union held a policy breakfast at the European Parliament on why cars need broadcast radio. Co-hosted by MEPs Hélder Sousa Silva, Sunčana Glavak and Alex Agius Saliba, this event highlighted the essential role that radio plays for people and called for the Digital Networks Act to preserve the presence of analogue and digital broadcast radio in all vehicles. Benjamin Poor, EBU, and Christian Schalt, RTL, presented on the power of broadcast radio and why legislation is pressing: some car manufacturers are starting to test entry-level models without broadcast radio included.

Jolene Country Radio has started test broadcasts on DAB+
Jolene Country Radio began test broadcasts on DAB+ on Saturday 12 September. The station can be heard on channel 9C, taking over from Kink 80s. Jolene Country can also be listened to online. The official launch will take place next week.

Germany’s transition to digital radio DAB+ is no longer simply a matter of improved sound quality or a broader choice of stations. It is increasingly becoming a test of how radio can remain universal, resilient and relevant in an era shaped by mobile networks, streaming platforms and hybrid media habits. At the center of this development is Digitalradio Büro Deutschland, part of the Digital Radio Germany Association. DAB+ coverage in South Holland further expanded
The local DAB+ network for Allotment 43 has been operational since 1 September. The first transmitter was switched on in Spijkenisse and is broadcasting on channel 6B. This further expands the range of digital terrestrial radio services to the south and south-west of Rotterdam. Three transmission sites are planned for Allotment 43: Spijkenisse, Hellevoetsluis and Puttershoek. Spijkenisse was the first to become operational. Work is currently underway at the Hellevoetsluis site, whilst Puttershoek is set to further complement the network.

The first-ever tests of the ASA warning system for DAB+ will take place in the Czech Republic on 10 September
Czech Radio, in collaboration with České Radiokomunikace, will carry out a nationwide public trial of the new ASA technology for public warning via DAB+ digital radio broadcasting. The nationwide public test will take place using version ASA 1.0 and will be launched in the afternoon directly from the Radiožurnál newsroom; listeners will also hear it during Radiožurnál’s broadcasts.

Automatic Safety Alert (ASA) begins regular operation in Bavaria via DAB+
On Thursday, 10 September 2026, the nationwide Warning Day took place. The federal government, the Länder and local authorities once again tested the functionality of various warning systems for civil protection. The operators of the DAB+ transmission networks also took part in the day of action across the country. For Bayern Digital Radio (BDR) and Funkhaus Ingolstadt, this year’s Warning Day held particular significance. Following the successful testing of various broadcast channels, regular operation of the ASA (Automatic Safety Alert) warning system is now commencing across BDR’s broadcasting networks.

Old Town Casino Zug parking garage now equipped with a DAB+ repeater system
The City of Zug (owner of this parking garage) commissioned Sumatronic AG to plan and implement a complete DAB system. The numerous specialized electrical installations were carried out by Marcel Hufschmid AG, Zug. This parking garage has ten underground parking levels with an integrated civil defense facility on the lowest level. The DAB repeater system was calibrated and put into operation on September 3, 2026. DAB reception enhances convenience and safety.

Poznań: Radio Wielkopolska on DAB+
Another broadcaster – Radio Wielkopolska – has been added to the DAB+ multiplex offered by DABCOM in Poznań. Until now, the station could be listened to in analogue via transmitters forming the northern half of the ‘ring’ around the provincial capital. DABCOM’s DAB+ multiplex is broadcast from the EC Karolin chimney on channel 5C with an ERP of 1.0 kW. Radio Wielkopolska is the eighth station available on this multiplex. The others are Wasze Radio FM, Eska ROCK, Radio DISCO, Radio MEGA, Radio NUTA, Radio RMF24 and Bounce Radio.
