Regional digital radio broadcasting to grow in Bavaria

Bavaria wants to continue to build up a regional network of regional DAB networks. Bavarian Radio launched the first three regional broadcasters earlier this year. Further distribution areas are currently being planned, with results planned to be published later this year.

Radio Südostschweiz starts on DAB+

Radio Südostschweiz is now broadcasting via DAB+ in Switzerland. Listeners will be able to hear the new service in the Canton of Glarus and the Mittelland, in Northern Switzerland.

Global’s Heart extra switches to Heart extra Xmas

Global has turned its national digital station Heart extra into a Christmas radio station, playing non-stop festive favourites. Heart extra Xmas will play all-Christmas music through until December 27th on DAB digital radio.

5 years of DAB+ in Germany

On 1 August, Germany celebrated the 5th anniversary of its transition to digital radio via DAB+ technology. DAB+ has expanded rapidly in Germany and it is expected that by the end of 2016 there will be over 100 transmitters throughout the country.

Graham Dixon, EBU: "FM is a very limited world, therefore we need DAB"
