Four applications by Digital Audio Broadcasting Platform (DABP), Media Broadcast and Radi / o digital, have been submitted to the German Broadcasting Corporation for the second nationwide DAB+ multiplex. The Expert Committee on Networks, Technology and Convergence of Media Authorities will address the applications on 7 March and make an initial assessment of the admissibility and quality of applications.

NRK’s Øyvind Vasaasen says the public broadcaster has succeeded with a comprehensive information strategy up to the digital switchover in Nordland on 11 January. On average the audience saw the DAB message 27 times on television, radio and the internet before the shutdowns occurred.

Norway began switching off its national FM networks on 11 January, becoming the first country move towards a fuller digital radio infrastructure. The digital switchover (DSO) will continue over the course of this year, with the last region due to lose analogue transmissions in December.

The Danish company DENVER is launching two new DAB+ radios onto the German market. The DAB-39 (black, gray or blue) has a 7.11 cm LCD display and the DAB-40 (black or gray) has a 6.10 cm color display for displaying the DAB + slideshow.
