Italy’s public broadcaster RAI launches 5 digital only channels
The new director of RAI Radio, Roberto Sergio, reinforces RAI’s commitment to DAB+ rollout in Italy by confirming the launch of 5 new stations, bringing the total number of RAI radio stations on DAB+ up to 10 (5 simulcast and 5 digital only). The new stations will offer Italian music, classical and opera, concerts and regional news, children's radio, variety and fiction.

DAB discussed at digital radio seminar in the Balkans
The EBU in collaboration with Radio Serbia and WorldDAB hosted a DAB seminar on digital radio on 8 June in Belgrade.
The event, brought together representatives of Serbia - Government of the media sector, regulators and broadcasters. Also attended by EBU members from Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, FYROM, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina, demonstrating the interest throughout the region to advance the implementation of DAB.

European Digital Radio Alliance meets under leadership of new Chair Travis Baxter
The European Digital Radio Alliance (EDRA) steering group met in London in early June, and discussed the continuing progress being made by digital radio across Europe. The new Chair, Travis Baxter, succeeds Helen Boaden from the BBC, and come from one of the major commercial broadcasting groups, Bauer. Over the years. Bauer has proved successful in taking advantage of the opportunities offered by digital radio, launching new services, and reaching out to a wider audience.
Travis Baxter commented: "Pioneering work in some key European countries is providing a road map for other countries, demonstrating that it is possible to provide listeners with more choice and diversity within the radio sector, a medium that is hugely popular with listeners and which continues to reflect the culture of all the countries where is operates".
