The Swiss Association of Private Radio Stations have launched a Radioplayer app on 30 August. The three associations ASRP, Unikom and RRR, together with the SSR, announced that the app would take place in May, and was launched as part of Swiss Radio Day.

DAB+ expands in Berlin and Brandenburg regions

The Brandenburg region of Germany will receive DAB+ services for the first time, following the Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb) decision to award new DAB+ capacity for the area and Berlin. The decision has been taken ahead of IFA Berlin starting tomorrow, with up to 60 stations now available on DAB+ in the region.

DAB+ to be installed in 27 Norwegian tunnels

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration upgrades 27 short tunnels with DAB coverage. One of these is the Skarett tunnel. "This is a service for road users," says senior engineer Jan Øyvind Pedersen, according to the website of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

DAB+ coverage area expanded in south-eastern Switzerland

Since the end of August, Swiss station Radio Südostschweiz has been connected to SRG's Ticino DAB+ multiplex I01. Thus, Radio Südostschweiz extends the DAB+ transmission area in the south to the Italian border at Chiasso and Ascona and at the same time opens up the southern valleys of Misox and the Calancatal. Managing director Silvio Lebrument says the move is aimed at preparing for the eventual DAB+ switchover in Switzerland between 2020 and 2024. "Now it is time to motivate the listeners to switch to the new technology," he said.

Norwegian tunnels to be upgraded to receive DAB+

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has set up a list of 27 short tunnels in the south region to be upgraded to receive DAB+. According to safety regulations, there must be DAB in new tunnels over 500 meters long. There are also installed DAB facilities in tunnels that previously had FM equipment.
